Recurring symptoms are your body’s warning signals that something is wrong and needs attention in the body. They have accurately been compared to a warning light on you car’s dashboard. When you see a “check engine” sign appear on your dashboard, you have three options:

Option 1

Ignore the warning light. Keep driving and let the warning light keep flashing. The longer you drive with the warning light, the better you will become at ignoring it.

Option 2

Take a hammer and smash your dashboard. This will effectively stop the warning light from disturbing your driving experience. It will not however, deal with the root problem in your engine that caused the warning light to appear.

Option 3

Find out what the engine problem is that’s causing the warning light to flash, and take the appropriate measures to correct the root cause.

In a similar way, when we experience a recurring symptom like painful, swollen joints, we have three options:

Option 1

Ignore the symptom. Resign yourself to the fact that you will always have joint pain. The longer you live with it, the better you will become at ignoring it.

Option 2

Stop the symptom with over-the-counter drugs. This is similar to the ‘smashing the dashboard with a hammer’ approach. Taking an over-the-counter anti inflammatory drug is usually very effective for relieving joint pain, but it does nothing to address the underlying nutritional imbalance that caused the pain and inflammation.

Option 3

Identify what the root cause of the joint pain is and address it appropriately. A diet that is too high in omega 6 oils with a deficiency of omega 3 oils may often be the root cause of chronic pain and inflammation in the body. When this is the case, decreasing the amount of inflammatory omega 6 oils in the diet and increasing the amount of anti inflammatory omega 3 oils will address the root cause of the joint pain.

If Option #3 is the approach that makes the most sense to you, you’ll love the symptom survey. It’s an online questionnaire of over 200 common symptoms that give significant clues about possible nutritional imbalances in the body. When you finish marking which symptoms apply to you and how severely they apply to you, Dr. Cajar will analyze your symptom patterns and suggest which body systems require extra nutritional support for optimal health.

A symptom survey program will be provided for all new patients.
